Mangla Power Station
Mangla Power Station
Project Overview
At Mangla Power Station, one of Pakistan’s key hydroelectric facilities, our team executed a comprehensive testing program aimed at validating the reliability and safety of critical substation infrastructure. All procedures adhered to IEC standards and NTDC protocols to ensure optimal system performance.
Testing Scope
The project covered a wide range of high-voltage assets:
-
Power Transformers and Station Service Transformers
-
Current Transformers (CTs), Voltage Transformers (VTs), and Capacitive Voltage Transformers (CVTs)
-
Medium- and Low-Voltage (MV/LV) Switchgear and Switchyard Circuits
-
Compliance with IEC and NTDC standards using OMICRON diagnostic equipment
Key Testing Procedures
Transformers were tested for IR, winding resistance, TTR, SFRA (FRANEO 800), and Tan Delta (CPC 100 + CP TD1), alongside BDV and DGA oil analysis. CTs and VTs underwent insulation, polarity, excitation, ratio, and capacitance testing via the OMICRON CT Analyzer. MV/LV switchgear was verified through insulation resistance, HV withstand, and functional breaker tests.
Protection Systems and Equipment
Protection relays were tested with OMICRON CMC 356 to validate settings, fault response, and coordination. Contact resistance testing on busbars and breakers ensured minimal impedance and safe thermal performance.
Project Documentation and Impact
All test results were digitally logged for full traceability. This project underscores our commitment to power sector excellence, helping secure national grid reliability. We continue to serve premier clients such as NTDC, WAPDA, DISCOs, and IPPs with advanced testing and commissioning solutions.
